The party decides to temporarily agree with Ryltas’ terms to work with the Sulatar drow. The Sulatar provide a distraction, pretending at a large-scale “push” through the giant dormitories, and the Eclipse Collective use this as to get at Voraqael while he is minimally protected. While there, he reveals a bit more of their contract with the aboleths: apparently, they don’t want to keep the Dreamheart, only consult it for a single question.
The party alters their plan and decides to align with the Umbragen drow. Voraqael pretends to be a prisoner and Zan-kyri is taken as a “collateral hostage” to ensure Voraqael is not killed. He is then brought to Ryltas, who leads the Collective with a small escort of Sulatar back to the foyer of the second level, still strewn with corpses.
Here they encounter Valen Vanatar who has heard about some of the party’s multiple double-crossings on the island, and demands immediate loyalty to the Throneholders. He demands the capture and interrogation of both Ryltas and Voraqael, to which the party refuses. Attempts at diplomacy fails and the party fights a large group of Throneholders. Coref Irvallo fights with the party against his former comrades, but the Sulatar escort is wiped out in the battle. Ryltas spends the fight protecting himself and Voraqael to ensure that the Dreamheart can still be accessed.
